Below is a table that identifies the average daily attendance percentages for our schools for the 2016-2017 year.  CONGRATULATIONS to the highest schools at their respective levels for the 5th month of school in attendance: Red Oak Elementary, West Jessamine Middle School, and West Jessamine High School!  Also, Congratulations  goes to West Jessamine High School for being the "Most Improved" school for the fifth month in attendance.

   Attendance Tips

1.  Create an environment that encourages education:

  • establish a daily routine-wake up time, bedtime
  • establish a study routine-homework time, study area
  • ask to see classwork, homework
  • ask about their school day
  • set limits-tv, social media, video games and jobs
  • be supportive-set expectations and give lots of praise

2.  Get involved:

  • attend school functions
  • meet and keep in touch with their teacher
  • meet and keep in touch with the counselor, attendance staff
  • attend afterschool activities with your child
  • NO MATTER HOW OLD YOUR CHILD IS, IT'S NEVER TOO LATE to get involved!

3.  Be Familiar with Attendance Policies/ Procedures:

  • review the Code of Conduct for attendance/truancy
  • provide excuses for any tardy, half day, full day absence
  • turn notes in within school timeframe
  • clarify where notes are to be submitted
  • contact attendance clerk regularly to confirm records
  • access and track attendance with the IC Parent Portal

4.  Set High Expectations about School Attendance:

  • arrive on time
  • schedule appointments outside of school day
  • use school breaks for vacations and routine appointments
  • pick up assignments when absent
  • help your child set goals
  • MAKE SURE CONTACT INFORMATION IS UP TO DATE
