2016-17 SBDM Minority Parent Representative

The West High SBDM is seeking nominations for a parent minority representative for the 2016-17 school year.   Nominations should be submitted by September 1 to Dr. Wells, WJHS Principal, at scott.wells@jessamine.kyschools.us.  Nominations should include the name of the parent, the name of the nominee’s children enrolled at WJHS, and a short bio and a statement of intent concerning why the nominee is seeking this position.  Parents may self-nominate or be nominated by others. 

After September 1, a list of nominees and election procedures will be communicated on our website, via One Call, posted on Social Media, etc.  For questions or to seek further info, contact Dr. Wells at the email above and/or at 859-887-2421, ext. 3750.

Open House

Our Fall Open House is scheduled for Thursday, September 1, starting at 6:30 p.m
We will utilize the following schedule:

·         6:30 – 6:40 / Opening Session in the gym, introductions, explanation of evening, etc.
·         6:45 – 6:55 / FIRST PERIOD
·         7:00 – 7:10 / SECOND PERIOD
·         7:15 – 7:25 / THIRD PERIOD
·         7:30 – 7:40 / FOURTH PERIOD
·         7:45 – 7:55 / FIFTH PERIOD
·         8:00 – 8:10 / SIXTH PERIOD

There will also be a FAFSA representative present for questions.
JCTC will be having their open house the same evening from 5:30 to 7:30.  

WJHS Alum in the News

WJHS Alum, Kareem Omar, has won several awards while at WJHS and is continuing that at University of Alabama in Huntsville.  This month he added another award to his alread distinguished list.  LINK TO ARTICLE.

ARE YOU DONATING CLOTHING? The local Goodwill (off Main Street by Long John Silver's) has a credit system with Jessamine County Schools that enables us to give clothing vouchers to families in need! When you go to Goodwill to donate your clothes, just request that your clothing donation be CREDITED TO JESSAMINE COUNTY SCHOOLS. This is an important program for our students that is uilized on a weekly basis!  The account has been very low for the past two months. Please help by donating!!!

Driver's Testing times and dates are controlled by the Kentucky State Police.  Effective January 9th written tests are given from 8:30-11:15 Mondays and Fridays only.  Appointments are taken for drivers.  Test by calling them on Mondays or Fridays from 8:00-10:00 at (859)887-1713.
