JCTC Academic Policies and Practices
Course credit is awarded for successful completion on the following basis:
- Career and Technical courses that meet two terms (18 weeks) are worth one credit.
- Career and Technical courses that meet for one term (Medical Terminology and Emergency Procedures) are worth ½ credit each and should be taken within the same semester
Grades--- Credits are awarded at the end of each term for successful coursework. Grades are determined according to the following scale:

A student’s Grade Point Average (GPA) is based on a 4.00 scale and is figured from final grades earned throughout high school for all courses. In calculating the GPA, the total points earned are divided by the number of credits attempted. Advanced Placement courses are weighted. The following point system is used:

*Each teacher will provide a class syllabus that explains his/her grading and class procedures.
