(saying goodbye to our old Village location in Wilmore)
Beginning in December 1998, early childhood education in our district was carefully studied. Several shortcomings regarding early childhood education were noted while research was strongly supporting the need for more emphasis to be given to educating our youngest students. As a result of this significant research, the Village was opened in August 2000. All county preschool and two kindergarten classes were located within the the Jessamine Early Learning Village, which was located in Wilmore, KY at the old Wilmore Elementary location. The remaining three county kindergarten classes transitioned into the Village during the next two years.
Jessamine County has continued to grow and as a result, we outgrew our school in Wilmore. In 2010, the Village moved to a completely renovated East Jessamine Middle School, next to the Board of Education. The Village started with 200 students and we now have about 950! That's a lot of 3, 4, and 5 year olds and it is a wonderful place! Come and visit us!
