Property tax info

The Jessamine County Board of Education has voted to accept a proposed reduction in the real property tax rate for Fiscal Year 2027, lowering it from 67.8¢ to 66.5¢ per $100 of assessed property value.

Here’s what this means for property owners, our schools, and our students:

Savings for Homeowners: For an assessed home value of $200,000, this rate reduction equals a $26 annual decrease on your real property tax bill.

Investing in Our Schools: Additional funding generated from local growth will support essential classroom instruction, staffing, student transportation, and facility maintenance.

Responsible Budgeting: JCS continues to maintain a healthy budget by cutting department expenses, consolidating roles, reducing staffing needs, selling unneeded property, and pursuing new grant opportunities.

Because the state recently updated the approval process for school property tax rates, our timeline looks a bit different this year.

Upcoming Dates & Public Comment:

August 24: Regular Board Meeting (Includes Public Comment)

August 31: Special Called Board Meeting (Official vote to adopt rates)
