🎉 Student voices. Big ideas. Real impact.

Our Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council kicked off 26-27 yesterday and they’re ready to make their voices heard! 🗣️

Students from across the district came together for their first meeting of the school year to connect, collaborate, and start thinking about how they can help make our schools even better. 💙

This council is all about two big things:

🌟 Growing student leaders
Students build leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while representing the voices of their peers.

💡 Shaping district decisions
Our students are the experts when it comes to their day-to-day school experiences. Their ideas, perspectives, and honest feedback help district leaders understand what’s working - and where there’s room to grow.

And one of the BEST parts? 🙌
Watching students from different grade levels learn from one another!

Our older students have the opportunity to mentor younger students, while elementary students connect and share their perspective with peers they might not otherwise meet. It’s collaboration, leadership, and relationship-building all in one room! 🤝

At our first meeting, students welcomed new faces, broke the ice, shared ideas, and jumped right into brainstorming the topics they want to tackle this year.✨

We’re incredibly proud of these students for stepping up, speaking up, and taking an active role in shaping the future of our schools.

We can’t wait to see where their ideas, and their leadership, take us this year! 💙

🛡️ Every student has a role in keeping our schools safe. 💙

This week, WJMS and EJMS students took part in Scott Harvey’s “I AM SOMEONE” assembly and got important reminders about making a difference in their school community.

Students learned that small actions can have a big impact and explored:

❓ Recognizing bullying

🗣️When and how to stand up and speak up for others

🤝 Finding trusted adults and using the confidential STOP Tip Line

🚨 Understanding that threats toward others or schools are illegal - even when someone says they were “just joking.”

Whether through inspiring speakers, strong partnerships with our SROs, or practical tools for navigating tough situations, we’re empowering every student to know their words and actions matter - and to feel safe, seen, supported, and valued. 🌟

🌱 Putting Down Roots for Big Success at GROW Academy! 🌱

We believe learning should go way beyond traditional classroom walls! Our Grow Academy afterschool and summer program at NES meets students right where they are with hands-on, real-world experiences, awesome community partners, and fun activities that help students stretch their minds and build on what they learn during the day!💙

To show that GROWing takes time, everyone potted their own plant cuttings to care for, track, and watch flourish over the school year, just like their own skills and confidence! 🌿✨

We are so excited to watch our students continue to blossom this year!🌸
