Check out our focused first graders crushing it at Math Centers! It's amazing to see their Work Ethic in action as they independently tackle challenges and strive for excellence. These learning opportunities showcase how our young minds are growing into responsible learners and building those critical problem-solving skills.

Recently, when a staff member's car became disabled right as they arrived, a number of our wonderful RDES families and fellow staff members immediately stepped up to help them out. We are so incredibly grateful for the generosity and support shown by our community in a moment of need. It’s a perfect reminder that we're more than just a school, we're a true family!

Check out our latest student spotlight! We're recognizing students who are actively living out the Jessamine County Schools Graduate Profile characteristics! We'll be highlighting students who demonstrate key attributes like Work Ethic, Responsibility, Connected Citizenship, Successful Communication, and Critical Thinking.
Want to know exactly what it means to be a Connected Citizen who "positively impacts the community" or a Responsible student who "takes ownership" and "corrects mistakes"? Or maybe a Critical Thinker who is "innovative" and "solves problems"? Be sure to look at the image on each post to learn more about the specific characteristics the student is exemplifying and see how they are making a difference in their school and community!

Our 3rd graders in Miss Ferree's class were nuts about math recently! 🐿️ They were busy like squirrels, collecting nuts (knowledge!) and showing off their skills in adding, subtracting, rounding, and multiplication. These authentic moments of engagement allow our students' to feel supported, while also having each student's learning needs met!

Our 4th graders in Mrs. Seamands' class were scrubbing in for a day of deep learning! Critical Thinking skills were fully engaged as they performed "surgeries" to solve complex problems and discover new concepts. It's a joyful way to learn and grow at RDES! "Excellence for All" is about hands-on, memorable experiences like this!

Mrs. Bohnett's 1st graders are officially human body experts! They wrapped up their CKLA unit on the Human Body with an amazing theme day, demonstrating their Critical Thinking skills. Even better, Mrs. Bohnett partnered with Mrs. Campbell during STEM class to guide students as they built their own "working" lungs! This innovative collaboration is a great example of how we strive for Excellence for All at JCS.

Miss Ludt's awesome 3rd graders are becoming expert Critical Thinkers as they dive into their new unit on frogs! They're starting their "Graffiti Walls" by sharing what they already know and asking big questions about amphibians. We love watching them explore their passions and find their purpose through active learning!

Teamwork makes the dream work! In Mrs. Casto's 2nd grade class, students are demonstrating great Connected Citizenship by helping their partners with fun math activities to prepare for their test. We are so proud of how they support each other every step of the way!

Happy Fall Break, RDES Family! We're taking a short break from posting to enjoy the time off, too. We hope all of our students, staff, and families have a safe and restful week away from the school routine. Enjoy the time together!

We want to send a huge shout-out to the Jessamine County Health Department for their vital partnership with RDES in providing our students with dental cleanings twice a year! This is a fantastic example of strengthening our community through leadership and service, one of the JCS Core Values.
Because of this collaborative effort, almost 20% of our RDES students were able to have their teeth cleaned and receive essential dental care! This helps us deliver on our commitment to providing a safe and healthy culture for our students.
If you have any questions about this wonderful program, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Andrews at emily.andrews@jessamine.kyschools.us or 859.885.6670.

Our 1st graders' CKLA human body unit had a major "glow-up" last week in Mrs. Boggs' room! They turned the classroom into an O.R. as students became surgeons and doctors, performing operations on number equations, prescribing medicine to sick sentences, and identifying "organs". It's a joyful, hands-on way to make learning unforgettable!

Tricky words? No problem for Ms. Caudill’s 2nd graders! They showed off their Critical Thinking and teamwork by playing Jenga to review their sight words. It’s all about making learning engaging and Joyful! What a fun way to stack up the skills for Excellence for All!.

Our 1st graders are showing off their strong work ethic as they tackle their fictional narrative stories! Writing takes persistence and perseverance , and our students are showing great grit and a get it done attitude. They aren't afraid to work hard!
