Make plans to attend the upcoming Be Well workshop on March 26!

Leah Martin and the MSD team won a mini-grant from the Jessamine County Education Foundation! Great night celebrating at the JCEF annual dinner.

Congratulations to our February students of the month! These Jaguars were chosen by their teachers for demonstrating the JCS Graduate Profile attribute: Work Ethic. Thanks for leading the way and we are so proud of you!

Ms. Pardue is this month's Teacher to See. She loves her sixth graders whole heartedly and is one of the kindest, most genuine people we know. Her classroom is calm and ready for the rigor students need to rise to the next level!

Love seeing snippets of our eighth graders in DC!

Our DC travelers have a big day planned!

Wednesday we pledged to Spread Inclusion at EJMS! We can be inclusive by being a friend, celebrating our differences, giving everyone a voice, being accepting, and lending a hand. We also pledge to use kind words and refrain from using harmful words like the R Word which can be hurtful to others. You can take the pledge, too, by visiting: https://www.spreadtheword.global/pledge

The PBIS Pro Award for this month goes to Mrs. Harlan in 8th grade! Her classroom procedures and management create a learning environment where students are ready to be successful. She builds her kids up to the high levels she knows they can achieve!

Teacher spotlight! The Dream Team award goes to our MSD teaching team, Mrs. Amanda and Mrs. Martin. These two work seamlessly together to create a safe and inclusive environment. Thank you making all of us better humans!

The Strong Start Award goes to our 7th grade Math Concepts teacher, Mrs. Hager! Mrs. Hager moved from science to math this year and is doing an amazing job embracing her new role by delivering math content that is standards-aligned and engaging for students.

Congratulations to our Above & Beyond Recipient, Mrs. Marksberry! She is the leader of our beloved Artsquad, but also so much more. She teaches our students life skills that they need and the kids have so much fun they don't even realize how much they are learning. Thank you for being an advocate for CTE and for all you do for East!

Mr. Mitchell is this month's Rising Star! He has found his groove in the band room and also is going the distance as the track coach! (See what we did there?!) His energy is contagious and our students gravitate towards that. Great work, Mr. Mitchell!

The Tireless Teamwork award goes to a teacher team who collaborates together to plan engaging lessons that lead our students to become better citizens. Congrats to our 6th grade Social Studies teachers, Mrs. Cook and Mr. Palmer!

Ms. Switzer is a strong leader in her grade level and content area, both in our school and district-wide! Beyond that, she is a source of support and solutions for her colleagues. We appreciate her and she is so deserving of the All Day, Every Day award!

And they're off! Wish our 8th graders safe travels to DC. We know they will represent East Middle well and will have a blast!

Game Day! Go Jags!

Our 2024 Rookie of the Year goes to Meagan Bellamy! Ms. Bellamy is an outstanding addition to our 7th grade team and our math department. Students described her as "determined to teach each one of us, no matter how different we are. She wants us to have success and learn how to do things that could be hard to do." Congratulations, Ms. Bellamy!

Congratulations to our 2024 Teacher of the Year, Morgan Cobb! Mrs. Cobb was described as "kind, patient, motivating, creative, fun, and encouraging... She makes the school seem exciting and brings so much energy to her class each day. " Her classroom is a safe and creative outlet for all. So proud you are ours, Mrs. Cobb!
