Our 5th graders in Mrs. Rogers’ and Mrs. Presley’s classes celebrated Constitution Day by diving deep into how our government works!
Our Eagles explored the foundations of citizenship, asked big questions, and discovered what it means to be active, thoughtful members of our community. Seeing them collaborate and strive for excellence every day reminds us how bright the future is!

Mrs. Presley has created a special addition to our weekend food bag program this year! With the help of our 5th graders in the Rogers/Presley Room, we are putting together Birthday Blessing Boxes for our students. This is part of our Connected Citizenship initiative, which is a component of the JCS Graduate Profile program. A special "thank you" to Crosswoods Baptist Church for helping us gather the materials to get this program started.
Each Birthday Blessing Box will include everything needed to celebrate a special birthday at home: an aluminum foil pan, cake mix, frosting, plates, candles, and a can of Sprite to use in place of eggs and oil.
For students who receive our weekend food bags, these boxes will be sent home during their birthday month, helping ensure that every child has the opportunity to celebrate their special day.

Students kicked off a fun new unit learning all about the fascinating origins and history of the classic board game Monopoly. Next, our creative learners teamed up to build their very own customized game boards! To put their critical thinking skills to work, each team had to select a unique theme—from ranking top movie sales to sorting the net worth of fashion brands and top sports teams.
Once their boards are complete, it will be time for the ultimate test: playing a fast-paced game of Speed-opoly! ⏱️💵 We love seeing our students embrace collaboration, practice strategic ranking, and have a blast while learning.

Last week, students in Mrs. Orange’s class used red and yellow counters to find all the number partners to 10! By mastering these combinations, our young mathematicians are using critical thinking to build a strong foundation for adding and subtracting even bigger numbers.

Marley has had absolute tail-wagging fun visiting our classrooms this past week for her "Meet the Counselor / Meet Marley" lessons! 🐾 She has spent her time sniffing out new friends, happily cleaning up stray floor crumbs 🍪, soaking up tons of sweet belly rubs and pets, and showing off her best tricks.
Our Eagles are loving every second with her! 💙 Stay tuned—Marley will be visiting even more classrooms next week!
