At JCS, we strive for excellence every day, and seeing our students pursue their passions on the mat was a true joy. They were shining examples of what it means to be active subjects and the drivers of their own stories!

Caught in the act... of being KIND! ❤️📸
Last week’s Kindness Week was a beautiful reminder that we truly are a school family. Our students were busy meeting with buddy classes, partnering with the WJMS Sources of Strength program, and writing "Sunshine Slips" to brighten our staff's day.
Our teachers were also on the lookout! They loved "catching" students being helpful and respectful, awarding them "KindCam" slips to celebrate their positive impact. At JCS, we strive to treat everyone with kindness, dignity, and respect every single day.

We are so proud of the hard work and perseverance our students have shown this year as they explore their passions. Here’s to many more days of learning and growing together as a RDES family! ❤️

Strengthening our community through service! 💙
A huge thank you to Crosswoods Baptist Church for treating our staff to a wonderful soup luncheon on Friday! We are so grateful for your generosity and for being such an important partner in our RDES story. It’s community support like yours that helps our staff feel valued and supported as they empower our students every day.

How far can a whisper travel? 🤫💨
Our 4th graders in Mrs. Heister and Mrs. White’s classes became scientists this week to find out! Through hands-on experimentation with sound waves, these students are practicing the critical thinking and communication skills that are at the heart of our JCS Graduate Profile.
We love seeing our students embrace challenges and explore the "how" and "why" behind the world around them. Watching that "aha!" moment when the data matches the experiment is what the JCS experience is all about!

At Rosenwald-Dunbar, we believe success is achieved when we meet students where they are and show them what is possible through hard work and perseverance. These students are the drivers of their own stories, and they have truly lived out our Graduate Profile by being dedicated critical thinkers and teammates.
Join us in the comments to celebrate these amazing scholars and their commitment to excellence! 🍎💙

🌟 Curiosity in Action: 3rd Grade Takes on the Children’s Museum!
Our 3rd-grade students had an incredible day of discovery at the Lexington Children’s Museum yesterday! 🔍 From interactive science exhibits to creative play, our young learners spent the day exploring their passions and purposes through hands-on fun.
At JCS, we believe in providing age-appropriate opportunities for exploration that challenge our students to be high-level thinkers and life-long learners. Seeing our students engage so enthusiastically with the world around them reminds us why "Excellence for All" is at the heart of everything we do.
A huge thank you to our teachers and parent partners for making this amazing experience possible! We are so proud of our students for representing our school family with such kindness and curiosity today.

📚 Help Our Youngest Learners Discover Their Passion for Reading!
At RDES, we believe that students come first and our community members are our most vital partners. We are so grateful for the incredible community support that helps our students thrive every day.
We are always looking for "Reading Buddies" to volunteer with our 1st and 2nd grade students! By spending just a little time sharing your love for books, you can help our young learners become effective communicators and connected citizens.
Our mission is to help every child find their passion and purpose, and your mentorship can make all the difference in a student's individual journey. We are always happy to welcome new faces into our school family!.
If you are interested in becoming a Reading Buddy, please reach out to Mrs. Andrews at emily.andrews@jessamine.kyschools.us or call the school.

At Jessamine County Schools, we strive for excellence every day, and these first 100 days have been a testament to the hard work and perseverance of our students. We are so proud of our young "Connected Citizens" as they continue to explore their passions and grow together as a school family.

Congratulations to our Rosenwald-Dunbar Elementary (RDES) Academic Team for an incredible performance this past weekend! We are so proud to announce that our team placed 2nd in Quick Recall and 2nd Overall in the District!
This success is a true testament to our "Excellence for All" spirit, showing what happens when students work hard and persevere to reach their potential.
We also want to give a HUGE shout-out to our amazing community partners and family:
Giovanni's: Thank you for your generous contributions to our District competition!
RDES PTO: We appreciate you funding the concessions for this event.
RDES Parents: Thank you for funding and supporting the hospitality room for our participants and guests.
At RDES, we believe "We Are Family," and it’s the support from our parents, PTO, and local businesses that makes these achievements possible. Way to go, Eagles! 🦅🏆

It takes a truly compassionate heart to walk alongside students through life’s ups and downs, and we are beyond fortunate to have one of the very best leading the way.
In honor of Kentucky FRYSC Week, we are shining a well-deserved spotlight on Mrs. Emily Andrews. As our Family Resource and Youth Services Coordinator, she is the heartbeat of our school’s support system—working tirelessly behind the scenes to remove barriers to learning and ensure every student feels seen, supported, and ready to thrive.
If Mrs. Andrews has made a positive impact on your child or family, here are a few meaningful ways to say "thank you" this week:
A Hand-Drawn Note: Encourage your child to create a "Thank You" card or a piece of art to brighten her office.
Send a "Warm Virtual Hello": A quick email from a parent/guardian letting her know her hard work is noticed goes a long way.
The Hallway Shout-Out: If your student sees her at school, a cheerful "Happy FRYSC Week, Mrs. Andrews!" is a great way to start her day.
A "Resource" Reflection: If she’s helped connect your family with specific resources or support, a brief note mentioning how much that meant to you is a wonderful tribute to her work.
Comment on Facebook: Post a quick thank you on our RDES Facebook page.
Let’s come together to make sure Mrs. Andrews feels the immense gratitude she deserves from our entire school family!

Community, Connection, and BINGO! 🔴⚪
What an incredible night for Rosenwald-Dunbar Elementary! Our PTO BINGO night was a huge success, and it’s all thanks to our amazing school family.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every family and staff member who joined us. Whether you volunteered your time to serve or came out to play and support our PTO, your involvement makes RDES a place where everyone belongs.
At Rosenwald-Dunbar, we demonstrate Connected Citizenship when we make our school community a better place. Seeing our community gather for such a joyful night of fun and service truly shows that "We Are Family".
Thank you for supporting our students and our school!

Congratulations to our latest student standout for embodying the Work Ethic pillar of our Graduate Profile! 🌟
Being a Jessamine County Schools student means more than just showing up; it means showing grit and a "get it done" attitude every single day. We are so proud of how this student demonstrates what it truly means to work hard and stay committed to their goals.
Join us in celebrating this student’s dedication to excellence! 👏👏👏
