Our PE teacher, Ms. Best, recently partnered with the Lexington-Area Metropolitan Planning Organization to bring a special program on cycling safety to Warner! Not only did our second and third graders learn safety skills for riding bikes and scooters, but they also actually got to practice those skills by riding bikes and scooters around our gym. Fun was had by all!

🎉Congratulations to one of our own, Rachel Shelton, on being named the JCS Elementary and Overall Special Educator of the Year! Rachel’s dedication to high expectations, fostering strong relationships, and using innovative tools and strategies to meet her students' needs is admirable. We are so proud that Rachel will represent Jessamine County Schools as a CKEC Outstanding Educator!

🌟Yesterday, during the JCS All County Chorus Day, our students came together with talented students from across the district to put on an unforgettable performance for their families! The amount of talent on display was incredible, and we’re so proud of their hard work and dedication. Huge thanks to our amazing district music teachers for facilitating this special event!

🏆We are so proud of our 3rd-5th grade students who participated in our annual Spelling Bee! Classroom winners from each of our homerooms competed, and they all did an amazing job! Special congratulations to Jax H. for earning 1st place and winning a giant chocolate bar as his prize! Many thanks to Mr. Luchtenburg for coordinating this fun opportunity for our kids.

🎉Congratulations to Fred Luchtenburg, our 2024-25 Warner Teacher of the Year! He is highly creative and builds strong relationships with both students and staff. He provides special opportunities for our students across the school and truly uses his talents to contribute to our Warner community. We’re so blessed to have you, Fred!

💙Congratulations to our Warner Teacher of the Year nominees! We're so lucky to have such dedicated and talented educators who go above and beyond to inspire and impact their students. Their hard work and passion make a difference every day!

📚With March Madness around the corner, our school-wide Book Madness bracket challenge is here! Each day, classrooms are diving into exciting stories and voting for their favorites! A huge shoutout to our creative gifted teacher, Ms. Heseman, for coordinating all of the reading fun. We're having a blast reading, voting, and cheering for our top picks!

🎉Happy Birthday to our namesake, Hattie C. Warner! Thanks to our food service team, we celebrated her birthday with ice cream and decorations during lunch today. Hattie C. Warner was born in 1886 and served as an educator in Jessamine County for 46 years. She loved to travel and collect diamonds. She always told her students, "I don't care if you are made of gold or set in diamonds, you are all the same to me". We continue to live that out at Warner as we value each and every student as an important part of our Warner family!

🍩 Over 200 men joined us for Donuts with Dudes last week! A big thank you to the Revive Next Gen program for donating the delicious donuts. It was a special time honoring the important men in our students' lives. We're grateful for everyone who made this event so memorable!

💙🏀Congratulations to these Warner Wildcats for winning their Parks and Rec championship basketball game today! Way to go, Wildcats!

As part of our learning during Black History Month, our students were introduced to Norman Lewis, an artist known for abstract expressionism, and his painting "Harlem Jazz Jamboree" during art class. They have been collaborating with their classmates to create their own versions of "Harlem Jazz Jamboree" which will soon bring lots of joy to our hallways!

During the month of February, our 1st graders have been learning about animal traits and survival during STEM class. They kicked off their unit around Groundhog's Day learning whether or not animals can really predict the weather. Students learned about the science of light and shadows. They have been enjoying listening to read aloud texts as well and learning some new vocabulary!

Our 3rd graders have been using their critical thinking skills while learning! In math, they have been exploring fractions, building fraction models with fraction tiles. Also, as part of their weather and climate unit during STEM, they have learned about the effects of natural disasters. Our 3rd graders made models of a home and then using certain materials, designed different ways to make their houses able to withstand a wind storm.

💙🖤On this National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, we show our appreciation for our SRO, Officer Justin Wilson! We are thankful for our partnership with the Nicholasville Police Department and Officer Wilson’s efforts in keeping our students and staff safe at Warner!

At Warner, we believe in making a difference in our community! A group of our staff members and volunteers worked together to donate and gather snacks, toiletries, hats, and gloves to show care for both children and adults who are homeless. These care bags were then donated to the Jessamine County Homeless Coalition. Thanks to our instructional assistant and After-School Program Lead, Pam Neal, for coordinating this wonderful act of kindness!

Some of our 4th graders had an amazing time at JCTC working alongside the biomedical pathway students! They dove into some exciting science experiments — from extracting DNA from strawberries to creating their very own DNA models. The highlight was playing detective and tracking down Patient 0 in an outbreak simulation. What a fun and educational experience for our students. And once again, we love our partnership with JCTC!

Our 5th graders have been studying the Revolutionary War. Our Social Studies teacher, Ms. Anders, challenged her students to turn their investigation of the Boston Massacre into a debate. The students had to decide if the soldiers were innocent or guilty. This experience was both challenging and engaging as students worked collaboratively to research and defend their points of view!

Once a week after school, some of our very talented 4th and 5th graders and our music teacher Mrs. Crockett fill our halls with beautiful music and singing! These students are rehearsing for their upcoming JCS All County Choir day where they will gather together with students from the other JCS schools for a day of music, singing and fun. They are having a blast learning new songs and getting ready for their performance!
