🫁❤️ Learning to Save Lives in Health & PE!

Today, our Health and PE classes have been learning proper CPR procedures and practicing the steps that can make all the difference in an emergency. Students worked through hands-on demonstrations, learned how to respond quickly and safely, and gained confidence in a skill that truly changes lives.

We’re proud of their hard work and excited to see them building knowledge that extends far beyond the classroom!

Colts in Mrs. Williams' College Algebra courses spent the day at UK's Gatton College of Business presenting the finals of the stock pitch competitions, touring the facility, and hearing about what college can do for them. Three teams presented their investment recommendations and rationales. Congrats to the winning team of Cooper Garland and Charlie Teater! These classes are investing $300,000 of real money in a variety of stocks. The dividends of which will go to scholarships for WJHS seniors. Thank you to Quint Tatro for facilitating our course and today's visit and to the University of Kentucky for hosting.

🌾💙 THANK YOU, WJHS and FFA! 💙🌾

Because of your generosity and support, our WJHS FFA members were able to pack and deliver full Thanksgiving meals to a record-breaking 132 JCS families through the 69th Annual FFA Food Drive! We are so grateful to every classroom, club, staff member, and individual who donated. FFA values tradition, and we’re proud to work alongside educators and leaders who help continue this meaningful service project year after year.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Mr. Larry Crawford- instructional assistant, maestro on the piano, and WJHS resident elf. Larry fought valiantly against cancer and never lost the goal of returning to concerts and students at West High. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. He will be greatly missed...always a Colt!

Service in Action at WJHS! 🦃❤️
Over Thanksgiving break, our amazing NHS students spent part of their holiday giving back to our community by serving meals at Jessamine County's Public Library.

Their generosity, leadership, and commitment to service shine bright—especially during this season of gratitude. Thank you to our students for representing WJHS with kindness and heart! #coltpride

Monday, our students took part in The Reality Store, an interactive event designed to give them a hands-on look at budgeting and real-world responsibilities. 💰 Students were assigned careers, salaries, and life situations, then visited different stations to “pay” for housing, transportation, groceries, childcare, insurance, and more. Along the way, they learned how quickly expenses add up—and how important it is to make informed financial decisions. This experience helps our students see the value of planning ahead, managing money wisely, and understanding the balance between wants and needs. We’re proud of the thoughtful choices they made and the conversations this sparked about their future goals. A huge thank you to the math department, Mrs. Barnes with Every Student Counts, additional staff and community businesses/volunteers who made this possible! 🌟
