25 years later, for those of us who remember, we can never forget. We cannot forget the emotion, the shock, the resolve, the unity. It’s is our job to educate the next generation so that they too will never forget. Today, West High will spend the time this anniversary deserves, to honor the 2,977 lives lost and the immeasurable impact that day had on our country and the world.

AP Lit said: pick a side. 👀📚 Today’s debate: Is “The Story of an Hour” in medias res or linear? Students literally moved to the side they agreed with, heard the other argument, changed their minds if they were convinced, and then jumped into the discussion to build on the argument! Well done!

Today, our Colts took a little time to walk, talk, and spread some positivity around campus in recognition of 988 Day. Students and staff added encouraging messages and reminders to our sidewalks while connecting with one another along the way. 🫶 988 Day is a reminder that reaching out matters, checking in matters, and no one has to go through a tough time alone.

PSAT registration is now open for juniors and sophomores! Take the test to unlock two major opportunities:

Governor’s Scholars Program (GSP): Taking the PSAT, ACT, or SAT is required to apply for GSP—a prestigious, tuition-free five-week summer program for Kentucky students that can lead to major college scholarships.

National Merit Scholarships: For juniors, the PSAT/NMSQT is the official qualifying test for National Merit recognition and substantial college scholarships.

Learning to lead takes practice! Our ACE Peer Tutors took on obstacle courses to practice giving clear, effective peer instructions—and learned quickly that communication is a skill you have to put into action. What a fun way to build the skills they need to support their peers with confidence, patience, and clarity.

Your reason is reason enough, Colts. 💜🩵

We're about one week away from a big informational night for our Seniors their families! Next Wednesday, September 9th we will host Senior 101 in the auditorium at 6pm. Immediately following, there will be a meeting about the Senior Trip to New York City which will be held in the cafeteria! We encourage you to attend!

When the Colts say "lights out" they mean it! The black out was in full effect tonight. Despite some blown breakers, the offense and defense were humming as the Colts took care of Wayne County 42-7! A huge shout out to Pecco for providing last minute lighting mid-game. 2-0- @ Lincoln County next week.
