A sure sign it’s going to be a great Friday! Huge thanks to Central Office for the Chick-fil-A biscuits to kick off our morning right as we wrap up an awesome Teacher Appreciation Week. We’re grateful for all the ways our staff has been celebrated—well deserved!

It was a great Thursday at West High! Our newest Colt Hero recipients are Mrs. Hudnall and Mrs. Oliver and they are so deserving!🏆
We also ended the day with new cups for staff filled with popcorn! 🍿 Friday is just around the corner!

Help us give a warm West welcome to two amazing additions to our arts family! 🎭🎶 We’re excited to welcome Aria Daffron, our new Choir Teacher and Theatre Director, and Macy Brockman, our new Show Choir Director. We’re so happy to have you both at West and can’t wait to see the talent, creativity, and energy you bring to our students and programs!

Congratulations to Maria Butler and Naatol Amanu on being named Dr. Carter G. Woodson Scholars!
This honor recognizes outstanding juniors who reflect the mind and spirit of Dr. Carter G. Woodson—Berea College alum and the Father of Black History Month—through their leadership and meaningful involvement in their communities.
Maria and Naatol consistently show what it means to lead with purpose, staying actively engaged in their school, civic, and community organizations. We are proud of the impact they’re making and the example they set for others every day.

Happy National School Nurse Day to our very own, Nurse Krystal! We are so grateful for all you do each day to keep our students healthy and on track for success! We appreciate you more than words can say!🩺

It was a busy night at West High as the choirs took to the stage for their last concert of the year...
The Colts took to the field to make it back to back wins over the Jags and seal the #1 spot in the district...
And Tyler Giles took to the mound to pitch the full game W after signing to continuing playing at Frontier Community College.
A great night for the Colts!

Good luck to our WJHS tennis teams at the 12th Region Tournament today and tomorrow at EKU! Go Colts!

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week, and we just have to say… we’ve got the BEST teachers around. 💙
Seriously—thank you for everything you do. The early mornings, the after-school help, the “did you check Google Classroom?” reminders (over and over 😅), and the way you show up for students every single day.
You make a bigger impact than you probably realize, and our school is better because of you.
Take a minute to drop a comment and shout out a teacher who’s made a difference—we’d love to show them some extra love this week!

WJHS Prom 2026- "A Night in New York City"
Congrats to prom King Patrick Collier and Queen Katie Mastin..
Be safe and responsible Colts!

Last one, best one! 🙌
The pep rally today may have come with a little chill in the air, but that didn’t stop us one bit. Popsicles were still the perfect treat, the energy was high, and the fun showed up in full force.
From relays to volleyball to water balloon tennis, there was no shortage of action—and the best part? Teachers and students joined in the fun. And hey...who doesn't want the opportunity to pie Mr. Marsh in the face? He was such a good sport! Love our Colt family!💙❤️

Go Colts!

Today we celebrate our incredible School Lunch Heroes! 🍎🥪🥗
Thank you to the amazing cafeteria team who show up every day with smiles, kindness, and a whole lot of hard work to keep our students fueled and ready to learn. From early mornings to busy lunch waves, you do it all—and you do it with care.
You serve more than meals… you serve comfort, consistency, and kindness each day. Thank you!

Happy Principal Appreciation Day, Mr. Thornton!
We just want to say thanks—for everything. For showing up every day, supporting our students and staff, and keeping things running the way you do. You handle the big stuff and the little stuff, and it all matters more than you probably hear.
We appreciate you and all the time, energy, and care you put into our school. Today’s your day!
